This Privacy Policy explains how Matthew Gottesman LLC, operating as The Niche Is You® and its related projects and offers (the “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “I”), collects and uses your personal information when you visit the website, subscribe to the newsletter, join the community, purchase a product or session, or otherwise interact with the work.

I try to collect only what the work actually needs. Depending on how you interact, that may include:
Contact details — your name and email address when you subscribe, reach out, or sign up for something.
Payment information — when you purchase a membership, session, or product. Card details are entered directly with our payment processor; I do not see or store your full card number.
Account & membership data — subscription status, plan, and history for anything you join or buy
Messages you send — the content of inquiries, form submissions, and correspondence.
Usage & device data — pages viewed, links opened, approximate location, browser and device type, and similar analytics, collected automatically as you browse.
I do not knowingly collect sensitive categories of data (such as health, precise geolocation, or government IDs), and I ask that you not send them.

Directly from you — when you subscribe, fill out a form, make a purchase, or email me.
Automatically — through cookies and analytics tools as you use the site.
From service providers — the platforms that run the newsletter, community, and payments pass along the account and transaction details needed to deliver what you signed up for.

Send the newsletter and the content, updates, and offers you subscribed to.
Deliver and support anything you purchase — the community, sessions, cohorts, or products.
Process payments and keep records of transactions.
Respond to your questions and requests.
Understand what resonates and improve the site and the work.
Keep everything secure and comply with legal obligations.
I do not sell your personal information, and I don’t share it for anyone else’s advertising.

The work runs on a small set of trusted third-party platforms. They process your data only to provide their service to me, under their own privacy terms:
Substack — hosts the newsletter, subscriptions, and paid content; processes your email, subscription status, and reading activity.
Stripe — securely processes payments and stores billing information.
My email service provider — sends and manages email and stores your contact details.
Analytics providers — help me understand site traffic and how the work is used.
I may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer. Each provider maintains its own privacy policy, which I encourage you to review.

The site uses cookies and similar technologies to keep it working, remember preferences, and measure traffic through analytics. You can control or disable cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended without them.

I keep your information for as long as needed to provide the newsletter, community, or products you’ve signed up for, and as required for legal, tax, and accounting purposes. When it’s no longer needed, it’s deleted or anonymized. You can unsubscribe or ask for deletion at any time.

I rely on reputable providers with industry-standard safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while I work to protect your data, I can’t guarantee absolute security.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to opt out of certain uses, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. In particular:
Everyone— you can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any message, or by contacting me.
California residents — under the CCPA/CPRA you may request to know, delete, or correct your information, and opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” (I don’t sell your data).
EU/UK residents — where applicable, you have rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure, and portability.

The work is intended for adults. I don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided information, contact me and I’ll delete it.

The site and newsletter may link to other websites and platforms I don’t control. This policy doesn’t cover them — please review their privacy practices before sharing your information.

I may update this policy as the work evolves or the law changes. When I do, I’ll revise the “last updated” date above. Significant changes may be communicated by email or a notice on the site. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
